Need a new laptop...

#1

Post by DoubleFault »

I dont want to spend over £400 if i can help it. I dont want it for games, im not going to be running iTunes, its purely for:

Microsoft Word and Excel - University work
MSN Messenger
Storing my Photos

I have Microsoft Office package so im not worried about it not having that. Im a bit of a computer novice when it comes to spec, but this laptop needs to last me a maximum of 2 years since I will be moving out in 2 years and will be using a desktop only.

I was looking at these:

Thoughts?

If you really wanted, you could get a laptop for next to nothing for all you want to use it for.

You really dont need a Dual core, thats for sure. Large HDD yes, and some decent RAM.

Laptops only have an MS Office trial pre-installed, so you're not going to get one with it on there anyway.

The Toshiba one is alright, but I'd stay away from the Samsung...They're not a very good make as far as laptops are concerned.

This one is only £339 and has a proper Core 2 Duo in it:

The only option below dual core is Celeron and he only wants that if he wants to save himself somewhere between £30 and £50 and have a laptop that's ten times slower.

My cousin got a cheaper variety of these, but with the same great screen

Mind you, even if you dont play games a dedicated GFX card makes a big difference so it is worth spending a few quid more to get one imo.
