Newgarden wins! He outsmarted O'Ward in the end.

Nice payday for Newgarden. I thought Pato had it it for a few seconds, but seemed to run out of smarts in the final couple of laps. At least it was a green all the way ending with no late restarts crap.

O'Ward held back on purpose at least twice but this year it was possible to get the tow back within one lap instead of two which was usually the case in most previous years. So that enabled Newgarden to have that one chance into T3.

Yeah the last time Pato backed out of the pass I thought that was the mistake of the day.

After the race went Leggeless, would you say there as a Power outage? :P

The draft of these cars never ceases to amaze. Feel bad for Pato but both men raced brilliantly and respectfully at the end!

Not to mention the people favourite,Sting Ray Robb, managed to lead 23 laps. Only the race winner and pole setter led more laps.

Total of 18 drivers led laps. All 18 lap leaders finished on the lead lap, beating the record of 11, set in 2023.

Seven drivers led the Indy 500 for the first time..... Scott McLaughlin, Sting Ray Robb, Christian Lundgaard, Kyle Kirkwood, and rookie drivers Kyffin Simpson, Kyle Larson and Christian Rasmussen.

649 overtakes in the race. A record. Thats even more overtakes than yesterday's Monaco GP!! Believe it or not. :sarcasm:

Surprised and pleased that it even got off the ground considering the weather factor.

Pretty entertaining stuff. Relieved that there were no major shunts. Roger the winning team owner fully 20 times over. Outstanding and astounding.

8/10.

Edit: I'll take back my comment on shunts. I missed the first four laps of the race and didn't realize that there was a major shunt on the opening lap as detailed by photos posted elsewhere here on the forum. No sheet time at least.

The highlights last longer than i managed to watch the race. Did a desperate try to endure this race. 9 laps. I clicked away. :haha:
