Old boy
Hi, having posted I thought that I had better do the right thing and say hi.
I have just turned 65 so my history is decidedly old school, I went to school with Martin Brundle and we used to race bangers on grasstrack against each other. I later became his Spedeworth Hot rod mechanic and we used to be involved in various things with his father John Brundle and King's Lynn Motor Club before Martin ran the Toyota Celica of Win Percy.
After attempting an ordinary life in engineering I ended up at Hub of the Universe Racing in Snetterton via a recommendation fron Rushen Green. I then moved to Jim Russell Racing in 1980, I ran a privateer in Germany the next year and then to John Kirkpatrick Racing in 1982 I also worked on Steve Robinson's Identicar sponsored FF1600 for a while when he was being tutored by Mark Blundell. I later ended up in the States.
Over this time I worked on FF1600, FF200, Sports 2000, F3, took Dave Scott's F2 to Dallas where we converted it to a C class along with various American spec cars and then over time drifted into Custom Automotive Engineering later in the 80's.
Unfortunately life had other things in store for me and I had to move away from Racing but I was still involved in limited one off builds of various machines and now I find that I am fast becoming a museum piece. Anyway that's the most of it, so once again hi !

Welcome Steve. Good to have a real racer on the board. There are a few of them here (I am not one).

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome, my posting will be a bit sporatic but glad to be here. I was drawn here by a google search on Philippe Roux, a Swiss downhill skier that I ran in FF1600, he had a massive shunt at Silverstone and broke his neck. He recovered and pursued a racing careeer in tip tops after that. There are pics on here of the remains of the car which I had to clear up on my own as the rest of the team were at another meeting. I have never seen such destruction to a FF1600 during my time, he was really lucky to survive, the top of his helmet was eroded by the road surface and looked like a boiled egg with the top taken off....just mm's from his head.

Wow that chassis is pretty trashed. I perhaps saw something nearly as bad back in '99 in FVJ:steveredd wrote: ↑8 months ago I found the link

Full speed into Paddock Bend, ran over the wheels of another car and ended up on the other side of the tyre barrier. i think they cut the tub in half to get him out, but the destruction was pretty severe.
