A Blue Red Bull.... I am so confused.
This is not the full Red Bull, this was Alpha Tauri last year and Toro Rosso before that. The full name this year is Visa Cash App RB, to be known as RB when they actually get racing. The actual proper Red Bull launch isn't until next week. I know, having one called Red Bull and one called RB makes no sense to me either

Nice that they call it the RB01 so it isn't confused with the RB1 from 2005.

Quite what they do in 9 cars time when it'll be the RB10, not to be confused with the 2014 RB10....

The name will be changed and back to being STR by then! :  :

AMR 24 Breaks cover....

Its Aston Martins turn to launch their car and they have launched their AMR 24 as an evolution of last year's car, but, according to the team's technical director Dan Fallows, is a step forward.

Remember last year in the early races it was the stand out improver..... that fell in a hole as others out developed them, but a late kick and plenty of updates got them looking better again, albeit not as good as McLaren..
Looking to 2024, Fallows believes his team has been able to continue that development path with the new car.
“We've made changes all over the car,” he told ithe media.

“It's very different in many ways, where majority of the parts have changed on it.

“But it is really still essentially a strong evolution of last year's car, so we have built on the end of AMR23.

“The obvious things you'll see that are different are things like the front nose and front wing bodywork,” he added.

“There's obviously quite a lot of stuff under the hood, which hopefully you won't see.

“We will obviously try and keep some of that under wraps.”

AMR finished 5th in the WCC last year..... It was the best result since 2020, when it was known as Racing Point. 2023 saw Fernando Alonso come close to victory at the Monaco Grand Prix in a slew of podium places.

The AMR24 persists with the same front suspension as its predecessor with a push rod configuration.

There are, however, changes at the rear owing to an updated gearbox from Mercedes and the resulting differences in the mounting points.

“That has changed slightly from last year,” Fallows admitted.

“So there's a change on the rear, but the front is very similar.”

At least they've bothered to fully paint their car!! Makes a nice change this year doesn't it?

At this rate the FiA needs to start mandating a new weight allowance just for paint jobs... this is getting a bit ridiculous now.

And now Ferrari's turn with the SF24.

While the team's 2023 car proved super-fast over a single lap in qualifying, it could not extract anywhere near the race pace and consistency of the benchmark Red Bull squad. Will the SF24 fix those shortcomings?

In the end, the team managed just a single victory throughout the campaign, thanks to Sainz's success in Singapore.

Ferrari hopes that the developments made to the SF-24 will help it make good progress on this front and reduce the peaky-aerodynamic performance that was one of the key factors that overshadowed its F1 efforts throughout last season.

Ferrari has placed a major emphasis on making its new 2024 Formula 1 car, the SF-24, more predictable and easier for Charles Leclerc and

The upgrades brought during 2023 carried a similar aim but after the summer break, in Zandvoort, Sainz and Leclerc still needed to split their car set-ups to refine the tricky handling.

A shift towards understeer thereafter favoured Sainz before late-season tweaks enabled Leclerc to score four pole positions and three podiums from the final six grands prix.

Ferrari wants to pick up immediately from that improved form as it starts the 2024 campaign.
The new car is a departure in terms of the philosophy employed last year and is hoped to address the inconsistencies of the SF-23.

The traditional red livery is emblazoned with white and yellow pinstripes across its sidepods and engine cover.

While some bare carbon is present, it's far less than has been seen on the designs already released this season.

“This year, we must start off where we left off at the end of last season, when we were consistent front runners, with a view to constantly improving in all areas,” said team boss Fred Vasseur.

“The longest ever Formula 1 season awaits us and Charles [Leclerc], Carlos [Sainz] and I all agree, we must be more cinical and effective in how we manage the races, making bold choices, in order to get the best possible result at every Grand Prix.

It's often said that your fans can give you an extra gear and that will definitely be true in what will be a very closely contested championship and we are proud to know we can count on our “tifosi” from around the world.”

While Leclerc has just signed a new contract with the team, 2024 will be Sainz's last with Ferrari following news Lewis Hamilton will join the team for 2025.

A sneaky spy pic and video of the Red Bull spotted at Silverstone doing in few shakedown laps.

While the images are not high enough quality to pick out much detail of the changes that Red Bull has made, they do indicate that the RB20 is very much an evolution of last year’s title-winning RB19.

There do seem to be some interesting areas of development though, including the full-length gulleys that run down the engine cover and are similar to last year’s Mercedes.

Plus, the area around the front of the sidepod appears to be a step change from last year, and has allowed for a particularly aggressive undercut to help further charge the airflow in a critical area of the car.

At the end of the day we know the launch cars bear little resemblance to what will roll out in P1 at Bahrain and indeed particularly with Red Bull they always have something up their sleeve.

I don't really like the new Ferrari. The colour scheme has now got too much yellow, and the car has lost its shape.

Is it the lighting, my imagination, or is the Ferrari a darker red than usual? I mean it looks okay, but to me it looks darker than I would usually expect.

While I like parts of the yellow stripe, it would be better if it followed the sides of the body all the way to the front of the car (including the sides of the nose). What makes it bad in my opinion is the deviation onto the side pods and then the cross stripe at the top of the nose. Offers no visual interest and does not enhance the shape.

I like the stripe, I just think it's poorly positioned, as per Craig's comment above.

It's interesting that this sweeps backwards from floor to the top of the car, whilst the 499p that likely influenced this design sweeps backwards from top to floor.

Ferrari new rear wing concept aimed at chasing DRS gains

Ferrari will unleash a completely revamped range of rear wings this year in a bid to close down the DRS advantage and associated aero efficiency that Red Bull used throughout 2023 to give it a straightline advantage, particularly in DRS open mode.

Others made gains in that area last year.and Ferrari has revealed that it is making big changes in this area too.

Technical director Enrico Cardile said at the launch of the team's new SF-24 on Tuesday that Ferrari had put a lot of effort into chasing DRS gains for its new car..

The wing on the Ferrari launch car featured a different layout for the central pillar. It has a more Swan neck-like layout as it hangs over the mainplane and connects to the DRS pod.

Asked if going down the Red Bull DRS direction was something the team had focused on, Cardile said:
"Yes, it is. I mean, a part of the development of this car has been also to revamp completely the rear wing.

"The car has been already presented with a new mid-downforce rear wing and we are revamping accordingly all the range pretty much we have. So we focus our attention also on the rear wings."

the new Ferrari has shifted concept-wise more towards the Red Bull direction overall, Cardile said that the team was still very much doing things in its own way.

"We took definitely our own direction," he said. "We did during last year a big job to understand what driveability meant in terms of shaping the aero map, so the direction is our own.

"I'm not able to say where Red Bull in terms of target setting went, or is going in the future. Once they find the target we obviously scan several options and we find, on the current one, that is the best way to achieve our own targets."

Racking through the launches now.... today Mercedes revealed its 2024 W15 F1 car at Silverstone

Is this going to be the one that puts an end to the past two disappointing years for the once dominant black/ silver arrow thingie?.

We had the porpoise-fest of 2022 and the not much better W14 last year which was at best a disappointment ..... it started with the continuance of the zero sidepod concept before they had a mid season ceremonial tossing of that zero avenue of thought.. They seemed to improve, but didnt see a chequered flag first all year. They didnt even score as many points as the year of the porpoise...... but they finished 2nd best in the constructors...... It seems not enough to stop Lewis wanting to take Italian lessons.

Anyway the W15 is the first one penned and overseen by James Allison (the W14 was done by James Owen as Design Director, albeit JA was overall TD. This car has sidepods still, but it is a complete new package rather than the evolution many others are...
"We're changing the concept," team principal Toto Wolff said. "We're completely moving away from how we laid out the chassis, the weight distribution, the airflow.

"Literally there's almost every component being changed
because only by doing that, I think we have a chance.

"We could get it wrong also. So between not gaining what we expect, to catching up and making a big step, and competing at the front, anything is possible."

"The design of any car is an iterative process. And a long one at that," Allison explained on the W15 design.

"It stretches back to last year. A new car enables the team to make bigger alterations that are not possible during the season. These are decisions that are taken during the preceding summer."
Will the major changes and new layout be the concept that puts them back on the same page as an evolved Red Bull that we seem likely to witness tomorrow?

Will Mercedes end on a High, before Lewis says Bye? (Will it give him his first win in over 2 seasons?) :idunno:

It looks even more black than Silver this year. I though they got over the black.. Maybe it is again a weight thing over aesthetics? :dunno:
