1) Who is this Sauber you speak of?
2) Are they car launches, or livery launches?
3) Is there actually a difference these days given you don't see the final car until Australia...

The cars LOOK all the same, anyway. And technically, they are boring as hell - who cares for the fruits of hours over hours in the wind tunnel.

Williams has also been revealed

I like that they have retained the Duracell battery air intake.

Sauber launched cars before in Germany, France, and at home base. They should stick to it. It was just big waste of money. Is the car different? Yea, it looks green. More about it that in May.

I kind of like that Sauber went with something different. Thank goodness we don't have yet another red/black/white car for the grid. Starting to all blend in together.
The williams looks decent. I like what I see so far.

I noticed in the Williams launch that they have shown off 'new' stickers in the form of Komatsu.

Haas had a bit of a fun poke at them..... if the Komatsu name rings a bell with you, its probably because that is the name of the new TP for Haas who has just stepped into the shoes vacated by Steiner....Ayao Komatsu. Such a coincidence didn’t escape Haas, who took to social media to laugh at the situation.

Image

“Why is our team principal on your side pods?” the Haas team posted, with a laugh.

Williams didn’t respond to Haas’ joke.

FWIW people of my age will remember Komatsu as a Williams partner way back in the 1980s.

Komatsu were and are a leading heavy equipment manufacturer....(think of the huge dumper trucks used in mining, graders, big bulldozers etc and they are likely Komatsu).
Image

Komatsu and Williams go back to when Sir Frank signed them up as partners during the 1980's to design and manufacture gearbox components resulting in the title-winning 1987 FW11. Komatsu also designed, manufactured, and supplied the gearboxes through to 1997 Williams FW19.

Image
Komatsu sticker on the nose. It isnt the most significant signage but is what I could quickly find.

Away from F1, albeit still with an F1 link, In 1997 Komatsu were a major sponsor for the 1980 Williams Formula One world champion Alan Jones and his team in the inaugural season of the V8 Supercar Championship.

We have another launch today, 7th Februrary.... Alpine.

Actually it will be a double hit launch for Alpine....

@erwin greven  They are also going to be launching their WEC car and livery alongside according to their website (The WEC car has been testing recently so I suspect its more a livery launch for that)
Alpine’s A424 (WEC)challenger will be launched in its full livery on Feb. 7 alongside the French manufacturer’s latest A524 F1 car at its grand prix racing factory in Enstone in the UK.

Follow Alpine Motorsports 2024 launch live. In a world premiere, Alpine will present its A524 (F1) and A424 (WEC) challengers for the start of the Formula 1 and Endurance seasons, as well as its two driver teams.
All I know of the timings are that it will start at 2;30 CET (IS THAT 1:30 UK TIME?)

Anyway the. timing and details along with promise of live coverage are on the Alpine website so check there for any live streams or updates https://events.alpinecars.com/en/

So they have gone with their alternate two liveries again, one more pink and BWT inspired with the other more blue with bits of pink and of course the obligatory naked / black carbon fibre.

Alpine will race with a predominantly blue car at the majority of the 24 grands prix, but will switch to a pink livery at an expanded eight races at the behest of its main sponsor BWT.

Alpine claims it has gone bold with its 2024 car design to the break the stalemate after witnessing rivals Aston Martin and McLaren make great strides last year.

The team says the A524 is a "brand-new concept created for the next two seasons and is marked by innovative solutions as a result of learnings from previous iterations. The bold approach will allow the team to apply a stronger development path across the next two campaigns."

Technical director Matt Harman said: "The A524 approach has been aggressive but deliberate in the fact we are creating a wider scope to add performance to the car. We have really focused on learning and reacting to what we have learnt rather than on results.

"The project has been bold where we have focused on realising concepts, which we aim to add to the car. We’ve built ourselves a strong platform to add performance when we can and we have set ourselves targets to deliver those."

Lots of these cars are a little too busy. They seem to all have the scheme of splotches of color with sploches of black: Haas, McLaren, Sauber, Williams, Alpine...

At least Sauber will stand out by their tacky choice of colors.

Williams will stand out with the Duracell air box, which I think is kind of cute.

Alpine at least tries to add a little flow to their design, which makes is slightly better than all the other bad liveries. From the top it looks better but otherwise, it is more of the same.

5 color schemes, and certain mind-numbing sameness to them. Hopefully, the other five cars will come up with something more unique and distinctive.
