In the same vein, Elizabeth Blackstock on Jalopnik wrote about it in length.

Formula 1 has “failed to understand everything about Las Vegas and the Strip. It just sees streets on a map, hotel rooms to be rented, and dollars to be made. Las Vegas may be different from every other city, but in many ways it is still like any other city. People live here, work here, raise kids here, and live their lives. F1 simply doesn’t care.

“For every one fat cat Formula 1 fan, there are hundreds of ordinary tourists that are avoiding visiting Las Vegas owing to elevated costs and the general mayhem the sport is bringing to the city. Convention organizers are seeing the struggles their attendees have had, and if F1 is back next year, they will move their shows to another city.”
***Some say you should live each day like it was your last... but who wants to live each day in wild panic and extreme death anxiety?

The universe, look at the hugeness of it... it is a dizzying thought that little ol' me is the centre of it all!***

Great opening post @Everso Biggyballies! I like the blinking Vegas sign.
The circuit itself looks interesting. However I will forever refer to this configuration as the "Fette Sau" layout.

In a nutshell if Sergio leaves Vegas with a 26 point lead it is job done... even a Sergio DNF, and a Lewis win with FL bonus means that Sergio would take 2nd on countback. With Fernando and Lando suddenly showing form, Lewis needs to keep an eye on his mirrors. A bad weekend for him and good ones from the two Andos (Nando and Lando) there could be a fight for 4rd 4th and 5th.

Desert be buggered.... its going to be cold when the cars hit the track.....
I put my two favourite bits of your write up in the quote, both of them made me snigger, so thanks for that   I particularly loved the two Andos, I may take to calling them that now myself :whistling:

See the one leveller about this race is, none of the drivers have been here and driven this track before. So it's new to all of them and noone has an advantage over anyone else. That has to be a good thing in a lot of ways. They're all effectively starting blind.

Given the time it's on, I will get to watch the highlights on Sunday afternoon :woo: I just hope it's a decent race. There are a lot of long straights by the seem of it.
Just so you know, I am a woman

DISCUSS AWAY
Interesting! Old and new are, literally, a stone's throw away from each other; didn't know that.

I didn't think Caesar's Palace was too bad, back in the day. Sure, it was no great shakes as a racing track, but still a lot better than Monte Carlo, and the races wre both fairly interersting affairs, worth staying up for during half of the European night. And, if I recall correctly, they were on Staurday's, too?

I believe maybe because it is the name of a fast (BBQ) food outlet in the US, Brooklyn in NY specifically..... https://www.fettesaubbq.com/about
"Smoked Meat, Craft Beer By The Gallon, And The Best American Whisky List In New York City" is their claim

Image

They proudly claim this on their menu: "Fette Sau: Literal Translation Is Fat Pig, But It Has A More Unflattering And Mischievous Meaning In German." :suspicious:

Based on comments Erwin posted 2 days ago, there might be a large silent group of locals who are pretty much pi***d with whole situation. The "strip" will be blocked, yet for them it seems the main aorta to get anywhere in the city. Then to add insult to the injury, despite high ticket prices, Liberty (allegedly) went to the city and asked unashamedly for financial subsidy.

My solution - please move whole F1 circus to NY (don't forget to add FiA and Sky) and be happy. I mean all. This would allow us around here return to proper principles of GP racing based on a different rule book.

American versions of a Bavarian Ale house (frequently found in the Midwest) often feature the song Schnitzelbank as a drinking song. Accompanied by the Oopmah band or an old man (all the one's were old that I experienced) playing piano. Often the items were small cartoons on the wall to help us drunk 'Mericans out. :haha: :haha:

Found one quickly via google. Very close to this:

Alot of the items are very tongue and cheek. I figured that some of these have negative connotations. Why else would we sing while drinking?

So there are no support races of any sort this weekend but I am sure you were all tuned in to watch the Netflix Cup. No? Well, I missed it as well.

It was a ProAm Golf Match with 4 F1 drivers and 4 Top Pros..... the F1 drivers were Albon, Sainz, Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris

Carlos Sainz and partner Justin Thomas won, but, as the video shows, Carlos then 'did a Lando' with the trophy...

Getting back to proper F1 talk for a second, it seems the Hulk will be using the old spec Haas this weekend.....Hulkenberg is running the older spec Hass car here, while KMag is sticking with the Austin-spec newer version.

Its all down to personal preference.
Its my personal preference - we had three races with the new package and while there were some new benefits, there were some not so good aspects with it. I felt more comfortable and confident with the old package.
As for Haas, they must be slightly worried, even confused, from a development point of view, especially looking ahead to next year, given they now havetheir two drivers in different spec cars with completely different feedback on the direction they have gone in since Austin.

Oh and another new Vegas special livery.... Alfa Romeo
