SVG wins by 4,5 secs.

Whincup had his chance after the pitstop but was really too passive sittting behind SVG who did block him a couple of times.

@Everso Biggyballies Mark Skaife mentioned the Ipswich round will take place at the end of August but isn't Queensland Raceway up for sale like mentioned before? So I have no idea what Skaife was talking about there unless there's been a new development with the schedule? I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about Winton.

Yeah the rumour started circulating this weekend in Townsville thanks to the Sydney cancellation, and has now been put to bed at short notice.
Townsvillw #3 was considered as was Winton, but Winton weather and the Covid situation here in Vic put that out. QIR was going to be in two weeks time but the teams vetoed that because of extra time away from home. So QIR later in August materilised.
“Supercars can today confirm it intends to return to Queensland Raceway in August, in what would be the eighth round of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship,” the statement read.

“In a win for Queensland fans, Supercars plans to hold the event as a two-day, three-race weekend across 21-22 August.”

Queensland Raceway owner John Tetley welcomed the news.

“During the COVID caused turmoil of 2020, Supercars had hoped to race here but external factors prevented the two of us delivering a race weekend last year,” said Tetley, who retained ownership of the circuit after going close to selling it to Tony Quinn last month.

“This year things have reversed and the flexibility of our two organisations offer the perfect opportunity to bring things together for the fans in South East Queensland.”

While Supercars has put a stake in the ground to work towards, the plan relies on the COVID-19 situation easing.

That is 3rd DNF in three races this weekend for Jones. So much for doing better.

Waters retakes the lead in the SC shuffle.
