Bottom post of the previous page:

Quite an eventful MotoGP race.... Bagnaia throwing away the race win when 'comfortably' in the lead with a few laps to go he threw it down the road leaving Vinales to add his name to the long list of this years race winners (now 6 names long). Quartararo had a long lap penalty that cost him a podium and the championship lead he nearly left with. Others who ended on the floor were Rossi and Binder whilst Miller had a mechanical issue.

Result

POS RIDER TEAM GAP
1 Maverick Vinales Yamaha 41m55.846s
2 Joan Mir Suzuki 2.425s
3 Pol Espargaro KTM 4.528s
4 Fabio Quartararo Petronas Yamaha 6.419s
5 Miguel Oliveira Tech3 KTM 7.368s
6 Takaaki Nakagami LCR Honda 11.139s
7 Alex Marquez Honda 11.929s
8 Andrea Dovizioso Ducati 13.113s
9 Franco Morbidelli Petronas Yamaha 15.880s
10 Danilo Petrucci Ducati 17.682s
11 Johann Zarco Avintia Ducati 23.144s
12 Alex Rins Suzuki 24.962s
13 Bradley Smith Aprilia 30.008s

- Francesco Bagnaia Pramac Ducati Retirement
- Valentino Rossi Yamaha Retirement

It's been so long since the Repsol-Honda has featured in the broadcast that you'd be forgiven for thinking they just upped and left when MM got hurt.

Dovizioso has two podiums in 7 races and he leads the championship. The tortoise race is very much on!

Rossi blowing it again. I think he'll look back on this season as a missed opportunity - ride 1% easier and pick up way more points.

Yeah, although he was with others around, it seemed like he dropped it without help.

I see Bagnaia is blaming unidentified shite on the track..... a visor tearoff or "something dirty on track", being the reason for his crash from the lead late in the race.

Probably the same tear-off that caused Miller's engine to conk out

I may be making this up but didn't some early 90s rider slip on a snake in Sentul once?

Yes indeed a rider did run a snake over, although no accident was caused. The guy was Gino Borsoi, and he has since had the nickname of "The Cobra" :haha: The year was 1998 and the track used for the Malaysian GP that year was Johor (Sepang was only built to be used from 1999 I think)

This might be the footage you saw.

In 2007 the late Nicky Hayden also ran over and killed a Cobra at Sepang in Testing.

Thanks Everso I've never seen footage, only ever heard it reported. Obviously mistaking Johor and Sentul didn't help confirming the stories either.

Been there, done that. Trained for a bike race series, and slipped as I left the registration point, landing of my hand and within 5 minutes it was too swollen to put on the handlebar.

Shit luck.

Just watched qualy for Moto GP in Catalunya and I have to say these guys are nuts now... I have often seen 60 degree lean , but saw Quatararo clocking over 63 degrees and not only had his knee and elbow scraping but also his shoulder!.

Anyway a bit of a Yamaha walkover with them taking the first three spots on the grid, the Petronas SRT team taking P1 & 2 with Morbidelli and Quartar, with Rossi in 3rd for a front row lockout. Miller 4th with Vinales 5th.

Rossi confirmed at Petronas SRT Yamaha with full factory support.

First front row start for Rossi this year.... on the day he had signed a new deal to ride the Petronas SRT bike next year with full factory support. The deal is for one year, and took 6 months to finalise the details...Delays in signing the contract were thought to relate to the make-up of Rossi's crew for 2021, with Rossi confirming crew chief David Munoz, data analyst Matteo Flamigni and rider coach Idalio Gavira will join him at SRT.

Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis:
"Obviously today we signed Valentino as a factory rider again for 2021," .

"So, factory rider meaning he has a contract with Yamaha Motor Company, and he'll get full support from us, he'll get a factory bike and will be followed carefully and closely. I don't think he will suffer anything from the technical side.

"So, really happy to get this deal done. It's taken probably six months. It's funny because I see the contract and it's quite small, our contract, because it's an extension of the contract we have, but to arrive at that point has taken six months.

"It's complicated because we're a Japanese company, but putting a deal together with a Malaysian team, and with Italians. And you've got an English guy trying to pull it all together.

"So, we didn't really find any difficulties along the way, but it's complicated because he's not a normal rider. A normal rider can do deals very, quickly.

"But when you have somebody like Valentino Rossi, you have to be very precise with the technical support, with the team personnel, with the image rights, every aspect.

"And these things take time if you want to do them well. We arrived at the goal and I'm very happy."

At Catalunya Zarco took Dovi out at T1. Looks like Petrucci was involved too.The championship leader set to score no points.
