Bottom post of the previous page:
some 650-680hp. Ferrari has something like 660hp which was less than the Honda engine which had 670-675hp.
from there it went up with sometimes 10 - 15hp per year. Till 2004 engine rules were not changed that much, when it reached some 950hp.

80s cars were powerful, but I don't think they looked or sounded very good. The 1987 cars in particular simply looked 'fat'. Thankfully they had a dramatic weight loss during 1988-1990.

1987 engines were by far less powerful, going from 1200+hp to around 800-850hp They had to install a power valve which opened at 4.0 bar
That's 1200hp for 3-4 laps so 15-20km, that thought alone makes me grin
. Race trim was more like 800-850.

Same here.
One stat I recently noticed about the 89 season which I hadn’t realized before, is that Ferrari achieved a 100% podium to finish rate. 30 starts (32 races, yet Berger wasn’t entered for Monaco and neither Mansell for Jerez), 9 finishes, 3 wins, 4 x 2nd and 2 x 3rd.

What are the all-time greatest races of the 1980s?
I almost hate to say it, but 1982 Detroit is up there.

Rio & Hungary 1989
Lots more I’m sure I’m forgetting

I always remember the dice for the lead at Zandvoort in 1985. Cant remember what the rest of the race was like.

That’s an interesting list with a some really good races. There are a couple I remember little to nothing about, like San Marino 1986 and France 1988.

I was a bit reluctant to include that one, but you are right (1984).

I'd tend to agree.

1986 for me. Partly because it was the first year I became properly aware of F1 (I turned 8 in 1986).
PS some of the teams allegedly found a way past the '87 4.0 bar boost pop-off valve, I seem to recall Arrows were rumoured to have found a way around it, and for '88's 2.5 bar limit too.
