:omg:
Hopefully it is not followed by a 'we have been inundated with offers from 100 race vets' etc and a "Thanks but no thanks" response. Hopefully you get to be 'da man wid da fire extinguisher' at Ipswich. Knowing the difficulty events have with getting volunteers for three day meetings, Im sure they will be welcoming your assistance and you will get the gig. Best of luck anyway. :fingers:

Next stop / target, the GP.

Then its $100 if you see Lewis (or Stroll) stopped in your vicinity, run out and empty your (fire fighting) equipment over him.

For some reason I've found myself available for all three days . One of our club members will probably be the fire chief, so I'm sure it'll be fine! "Worst case" when they have a lot of bodies you find yourself out on a corner post (which is frankly so much better than in the pits!). So hopefully there are a lot of volunteers .

Is that an offer to stay at your place? :twothumbs: I don't believe they put people up, so I'd need a place to go. :whistling:

I'm hoping to do Gold Coast this year, and the Bathurst 12 Hour next year. But the AGP would obviously be on the list to do, and with the F3s and F2s, it would be quite something.

Just a heads up that this weekend we have Supercars in action over in Tasmania for Round Four..... the Snowy River Caravans Tasmania Super 440

Actually the final regs have been issued and the main Sunday race has been shortened.... so it wont actually be 3 races over 440klms total. :haha:

The Sunday race will run over 78 laps, two short of that planned

Change made based on updated consumption projections that showed an 80-lap race would have left cars struggling to make the distance on two stops. (They are using fuel churns not rigs outside the enduros.)

Symmons has two long straights that gives a greater percentage of time spent at full throttle than any other Supercars circuit so slightly higher fuel consumption over a lap..

Saturday’s two sprint races remain at 50 laps each. They have tyre stops only. The cars can run the distance within the 133 litre tank capacity.

It does not affect the timetable at all. (V8SC timetable follows)

We have got a few new liveries on show.

Macauley Jones’ Chevrolet Camaro will sport a new livery at the Tasmania Super440 promoting the latest addition to the famed Karate Kid movie franchise.

Erebus Motorsport has unveiled a fresh look for Cooper Murray

Cooper will sport backing from tools brand Snap-on for the Symmons Plains round with a sharp, simple red and black look

Toyota set to reveal second Supercars team this weekend....

Toyota is poised to confirm Brad Jones Racing as its second Supercars Championship team for 2026..... mentioned in the Tasmania SC round practice TV coverage and now being unofficially confirmed in the local motorsport press. Apparently the big reveal is set for Saturday.

Team 18 had been the early favourite to land the Toyota contract before opting to take on the GM Homologation Team

BJR subsequently emerged as the new front-runner, with Toyota understood to have upped its second team commitment to secure BJR and its 4 car set up.. (BJR is expected to continue to run four cars under the deal.)

They joined the Supercars Championship as a Ford team in 2000 before switching to Holden in 2008 and then staying with GM and Camaros when Holden went belly up..

If it turns out as suggested that will give us 6 Toyota Supras (2 from WAU, the Homologation Team, and 4 from BJR), 10 Ford Mustangs and 8 Chevrolet Camaros as the regular line up..

I can only imagine how the parity crap will go with 3 different engines to paritise.... they still cant agree on the Ford and GM equation yet, with only this week confirmation of Ford and GM cars both running revised engine maps to equalise the performaance of both engines

Anyway, we have had two practice sessions today.

P1 saw the top of the timesheet between Feeney and Reynolds..... David set the early pace but half way through the 30 minutes and Feeney took over at the top. Whether it was the gusting wind of just a green track im not sure but a lot of cars ended up missing the hairpin and skating wide. Ryan Wood wound up third in P1 ahead of Cameron Hill, Andre Heimgartner, Brodie K, Will Davo, James Golding, Jaxon Evans and Nick Percat. The Erebus pair of JLB and Murray missed most of the session as they had inadvertently, given the 4 week delay getting cars back from Taupo, not changed their drop gear (final drive ratio) from the Taupo set up to the long straights of Symmons. They realised as soon as they rolled out on to the track and had to return to fix the oversight straight away. They failed to get out by the end of P1.

P2 Feeney again set the pace, this time beating Stanaway to the honours. Feeney improved his own Practice 1 best of 51.311s to a 51.087s in the second 30-minute session.

Looks like Red Bull have rolled out of the truck with better cars than they had at Taupo, with Brown ending up 3rd.

P1 was a bit quiet with no late flurry but P2 saw a lot of improvements coming through in the final minutes. With a minute to go Kai Allen was leading the way... Ryan Wood then went top with Feeney coming through with seconds left to take the top spot. Stanaway had a late run to steal 2nd fastest. Points leader Will Brown,as mentioned, came in third ahead of Heimgartner, JLB, Cooper Murray, Cam Hill, Allen, Cam Waters and ADP. .

Good turnaround from Erebus givern they missed P2 pretty much.

So much also with the last minute engine parity changes to equalise the teams.... the fastest 7 car were all Camaros.

Next action is wo back to back 2 part qualy sessions to set the grid for the afternoons two short 50 lap races

Anyway here are the P2 times.

SATURDAY QUALIFYING

Two seperate Q1 and Q2 qualifying sessions, one et for each of todays two 50 lap races later on this afternoon.
Simple format. 10 minutes for Q1 and then the fastest 10 in Q1 advance to Q2

Then rinse and repeat for Race 2 of the weekend almost straight after.

Subtle difference.... Qualy for race 1 used Super Soft Rubber, qualy for race 2 just use the normal Soft (ie not Super Soft) compound

Race 1 qualy

Randle takes Race 1 pole

Whoops just realised posting this I missed thee start of the first race.

The cars were in the process of setting their first Q1 flying laps when we had a red flag following a wild spin for Cooper Murray on the run to Turn 1. That spread crap onto the circuit and screwed a number of those on a flyer. They all regrouped, went again and we had some inevitable casualties. .... including both Taupo race winners Chaz Mostert (19th) and Matt Payne (24th). Team 18 also had a shocker with both Reynolds and ADP 22nd and 23rd respectively.

Q2 we had a bit of an incident in which Kostecki and Wood both using a different line into the hairpin tangled with Kosteckio lightly tagging Wood into a spin. Big casualty was early pace setter Golding being the next car up having to stop. Untimately Brodie got a 4 place penalty for his sins.

Yeah still the same going into lap 10. Not the easiest track to pass on.

Now Feeney has got the lead on 12 using a side draft along the back straight

Courtney has lost a couple of swift places to Brodie and Wood.

Oh dear, Macca has just outbraked himself and used Davo as a buffer. Turned Davo round.

A couple of the early stoppers now holding up Feeney in the lead. Problem with the short lap here is just that.

Feeney stays out though.

Red Bulkl ready for Feeney now and he is the first leader to stop.
Brown leads. but Feeney rejoins in clear air..

He needs to get up to speed quick to stop any overcut.

Just past half distance now.

Brown stuck in traffic now but he goes for pitlane. That cost him time . Randle stops as well. Randle got the jump on Brown who had a slow stop as well as traffic.

Ah Brown took 4 tyres.
