Earlier this week a serious incident occurred during a qualifying session for the 2023 edition of the Southern 100 Road Races at the Isle of Man.
The incident involved two riders long with a marshal and also a spectator. The crash resulted in two fatalities.
Organisers have now announced that the remainder of the event has been cancelled due to the ongoing investigations.
Condolences to all involved and heartfelt thanks to the first responders who were confronted with such scenes.
According to Manx Radio, two men, a rider and a marshal were killed in Tuesday's practice session. No further detail on their identities has been released yet.
The crash occurred on the Castletown Bypass, between the start line and after the junction of the bypass with Arbory Road.
Police are carrying on forensic work by the Malew Street bridge.
Detective Inspector Neil Craig said: "The area was well attended at the time by members of the public who were watching the races and officers have already spoken to a number of people regarding what they saw.
Police have appealed for any fans with eye witness reports or video footage to come forward.

The Southern 100 can confirm that a serious incident occurred during tonight’s qualifying session on the Billown Course.
The incident involved two riders, a marshal and a spectator and it is with deep sadness that the Southern 100 regrets to announce that this incident has resulted in two fatalities.
The Southern 100 pass on their deepest sympathy to the families, loved ones, and friends of those involved.
At this time, the club is unable to provide any further details of those involved in the incident and the current focus of the organiser is to support those involved.
The Coroner of Inquests has been informed. A further statement will be released in due course.

Following the serious incident that occurred during the final lap of last night’s practice session, the Southern 100 can confirm that the remainder of the event is now cancelled. The Clerk of the Course has taken the decision to cancel the remainder of the event due to the ongoing investigations and this continues to be the priority of the organisation.

The Southern 100 Motorcycle Racing Club would like to express its sincere thanks and appreciation of all the kind messages of support and understanding that have been received since the sad and very traumatic incident during practice for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races on Tuesday evening 11th July which resulted in this year’s event being cancelled.
As promoters, we are extremely grateful to everyone who have been involved in the 2023 Southern 100 for the time, hard work, and dedication in the preparation, running of the event and continued help and assistance as we bring this year’s event to a close after the traumatic Tuesday evening.
To all involved with the incident on the By-Pass we thank you for your professionalism and dedication to your duties, we will be for ever grateful.
To the families and friends of the rider and marshal who died we offer our sincere condolences and to the families and friends of the rider and spectator injured a speedy and full recovery.
