Quick catch-up on 2025 news, since there's been a good chunk of it the past two days:

* Riley Herbst confirmed for the third 23XI car, number 35.
* Ryan Preece confirmed for the third RFK car, number 60, with Kroger backing. Team has leased the #15's charter from Rick Ware Racing.

* The race at COTA will use the shorter "National" course for 2025, the same one formerly used by Supercars.

* JTG Daugherty Racing is rebranding to Hyak Motorsports. Gordon Smith (owner of Oregon/Washington-based shipbuilder Hyak Maritime) has assumed full operational control from team founders Tad and Jodi Geschickter after initially joining the team in 2023.

Sammy Smith's 2025 Xfinity series car will feature the long awaited return of the DEI #8 font, which Teresa Earnhardt finally gave up the rights to earlier this year.

23XI and FRM have been granted their preliminary injunction, allowing them to compete as chartered teams for 2025 and to finalize the purchase of the former Stewart-Haas charters:

New evidence of irreparable harm looks to have tipped the scales in their favor; among them, a clause in the driver contracts of Tyler Reddick, Riley Herbst, and Noah Gragson that said contracts be considered void without the provision of a chartered car.

Zane Smith will drive the #38 for Front Row Motorsports, after the sale of one of SHRs charters went through.

In a bit of a surprise, MBM Motorsports have announced veteran Mike Wallace will attempt to make the Daytona 500 in the #66, his first attempt at making a Cup series race in 10 years. If he is to make the race, he would be the second oldest driver to ever compete in the Daytona 500, behind Mark Thompson who made the 2018 edition at age 66.

As part of the new charter agreement, teams will now be limited to three chartered cars. Those currently with four (Hendrick and Gibbs) will be grandfathered in for the foreseeable future.
