Confirmed post race it was indeed a gear selection issue that caused both incidents, and, in effect likely cost the Davison / Leahey / Lynton car both the win and also the runner up spot. :tearful:

Still, a great drive by those in the Ojeda, Hodges and Miedecke car, particularly Ojeda who was mighty in the traffic.

SRO has effectively taken over the SpeedSeries for 2025, basically making GT3 the second biggest category in Australia again. No info so far on what this means for TCR and Transam, you have to wonder if this might be it for TCR considering their poor grid sizes for the last couple of years.

TCR is dreadful at the moment. No loss if it goes.

TCR was always going to struggle to fit in here in Aus, given the perceptions of them in a land where motor sport culture has been so (certainly recent decades) been so V8 orientated. Trans Am seem to have found a niche as a reasonable cost series. To be honest I am not the person to comment on TCR as my interest has always been fairly low and it has been low profile in terms of TV time. So much other availability of motorsport now and I guess I mentally have drawn a line over the category.

It seems like a bit of a dead end if you're a young driver, there's more locally relevant categories that you could compete in that cost about the same like TA2 and there doesn't seem like much opportunity overseas in the way that there is with GT racing.

I also think most gentleman drivers would rather drive a big V8 or GT car then a hot hatchback, if they had a few privateer cars filling out the field in TCR the series would look better. I struggle to get that excited when there's only 12-14 cars out there even though the racing is still fairly competitive. There was also a bit of a novelty factor to having European style touring car racing in Australia back when it first started and that's gone now.

The 86 Series is great for youngsters instead.

These might be a bit faster... But it's certainly not an openwheel route, and would you really race TCR if you wanted to go into Supercars? Dead-end indeed.
