Was convinced the #50 cannot make it to the end, but they surprised me. Very well deserved. I also missed the Toyota pit wall telling Lopez to just bring it home instead of attempting to pressure the Ferrari, which was a bit of a bummer.

Back at accommodation now.

Great experience.

The only downside was the shuttle buses - a total farce. So inefficient. Also, if I was watching at home I'd rage at the rain SC. Just like F1, the track was fine for an hour. From 6:30am when I got up, it looked fine. No worse than later in the day when it rained - and there was PLENTY of daylight by then. It was not dawn and dim.

Otherwise, recommend anyone who is a motorsport fan to go some day, even if you're not a sportscar person.

I don't see it lasting more than a couple of years, sadly.

How long can the likes of Lamborghini, Alpine, Peugeot, BMW, tool around in 10th to 23rd without being competitive, while costing them millions and millions of dollars?

Some are earlier in their development cycle than others, and maybe they see some hope. But who can see Peugeot carrying on much longer?

Would be interesting to see what the landscape would be without BoP.

Nothing to do with the racing but the ACO announced today that our @MonteCristo was one of a crowd of 329,000.

Quite a few considering the weather forecast was never brilliant, and that might have influenced a few locals planning a day trip. Mind you I guess with tickets in such demand and sold out well in advance their is more commitment to go than with someone local deciding on the day whether to go or not when they wake up knowing they can get a ticket at the gate..

That 329K is an increase over the 2023 100th anniversary meeting. That 'only' attracted 325K.

Not sure if that is a Sat/Sun figure for the actual race of if it includes the practice and qualifying days. :idunno; They carefully avoided specifics like that.

Edit: Just noticed that on the Ferrari website they indicated that was a race DAY figure....
The official Ferrari – AF Corse team’s 499P number 50 crossed the chequered flag first after 311 laps to the applause of the 329,000 spectators in attendance (a record for the 24 Hours of Le Mans). Nicklas Nielsen, who shared the cockpit with Miguel Molina and Antonio Fuoco, drove the car to the finish line.

They certainly need to invest in better infrastructure like more and expanded spectator mounds if they have any hope of getting more in (like I said, at one stage people broke through a restricted area to get space (myself included!). Not to mention more loos - plenty of wizzing in the woods going on (when in France...). And even all the food outlets were making a roaring trade with long lines at each and every one. At one stage mid-race I saw a - I kid you not - 300m line to get in at Arnage, which is generally a pain to get to away from the main section of the track.

Packed in like sardines.
