OK The 2025 season is GO GO GO, and cars are straight out on track.

Lovely day, not too warm, 27C I think.
135000 people flocked into Albert Park which is impressive for a Friday.

LMax was first to the top but quickly swampoed by others..... Leclerc now top and Max dropped to 9th but up to third. with Lando 2nd and Lewis 4th.

I thought the track changes mentioned in the previeewmight make the track a half a second faster..... that might. be a bad call. Leclerc, 15 minutes in, has done a 1:17.880.... Last years P1 quickest was a 1:18.564 and P2 was a 1:17.20 so they seem a lot quicker already.n Last year of course Aus was round 4 and not round one as this year.

RED FLAG.

Gravel and debris on track.

Russell and Hadjar have jumpr=ed into the top 3 now with Leclerc still leading on the same time.

Now we have a red flag I think for gravel on track after an Alpine dragged a load of gravel on to the track.

Back to green with just over half an hour left. So far all have run just medium tyres.

Max the first to try softs and he goes straight to the top with a 17.696, but only a tenth or so quicker than Charles on mediums

A couple of others try soft,..... George one and slots into 2nd behind Max by 0.020, Sainz also on softs 4th 0.2 off Max

Bearmanpig off to a less than ideal start.

But the team have found some weight savings on the car already.

SAINZ GOES FASTEST with a 17.401.

And we have a red flag.... a big shunt from Bearman. Looks like he clipped a wall but has knocked a front right off. It happened at the fast chicane round trhe back, snapped sideways on the exit. Oh replays show he has knocked both right hand corners off. Not the start Haas or Bearman wanted.

I am in Miami right now. I must day I was pretty shocked to peer through a bar and see F1 running on a big screen on this Thursday evening. I had completely forgotten about the time difference.

Clock is still counting down and 16 minutes left but the car is on the flatbed so we should go back to green soon.

Albon will be wanting it to happen quickly.... he is down in 15th, 1.6 slower than his new Williams team mate Carlos at the top of the times.

Actually whilst we are red a good time to give a full update of times. I reckon there will be 10 minutes left in P1 when we go green.

I notice Antonelli in the Merc is just faster than Lewis in his shiny red car.
