Really not bad at all. Wasn't sure Max was going to win again until he was in 3rd just a second or two behind the leader.

7/10 for me!

2/10
I know what to do next year when purging races to some acceptable level. Race itself was better than 2.

There is only one Max on the grid at the moment.

5.

Nothing memorable. But seen worse.

The action that did happen was mostly due to the slickness of the track and the cold temperatures I think, rather than the layout of the track itself?

7/10 here.

Quite enjoyed the Vegas round. Some interesting battles to be seen. The circuit layout is interesting with high and low speed sections. Compare it to Phoenix in the early 90's. BLAH!

I gave it an 8, simply because I didn't expect much of it and the epic battle between Leclerc and Checo was pretty good.

8 from me. I was not expecting this good of a race. Reminds me of the good races at Baku.
Really loved the battle for the lead. We have not seen an undecided race like this all year. It was not domination (even though we did get the same winner).
It was also nice to see Max have something pleasant to say in the interviews. He was quite happy and I think he enjoyed the race (despite the over the top pre-race stuff).

That rating should be 3.6 Roentgens, should it not?

I must confess I was more than pleasantly surprised by the race.

Yes indeed I might have given it an 8 for the actual race, which captivated me from the start and gave us much of what I yearn for..... but I had to deduct a point for the ridiculously lengthy limo trip to the Bellagio afterwards to see the waterworks which I thought had been switched off for the race. (I didnt notivce them). I took another point off for the pre-race nasties which included the driver intros Thursday night track shenanigans, the spectators being banned (and subsequent 'gift'' of $200 to be spent online in the official merchandise store. (they didnt even get to go to the store to see what they were buying)

Oh and the drivers parade car that dropped a pile of oil on one side of the grid. Or the general lack of fit for purpose surface (even if it perhaps added to the race)

So I ended up with a 6. But yes the race was god and thankfully some of the camera angles meant I didnt even notice the Vegas background. The helicopter shots though were pointless and more for showing us where we were than why we were there.... to see the actual cars on track

Not that many of the camera angles were satisfactory. (They didnt seem to have an external (ie non on board) camera that actually caught the Norris accident until it was over.

We did witness a race that far exceeded my expectations though,..... we saw a genuine battle for the lead and we witnessed some good dices and drives through the field from the likes of Perez Piastri Alonso and particularly Ocon who went from 16th to 4th.

The benefit of all the pre race nonsense was that it did give me the opportunity to make and eat a leisurely lunch pre race which allowed to ignore much of it.

In summary a great race spoil by all the peripheral pomp and irrelevnt shite.

Satisfied

Genuine battle for the lead? Hmm. If you exclude the contrived qualifying, artificial tyre w(e)ar, hokey pit stops, random driver penalties and phony DRS passes, yeah, that was quite a competent surrogate for racing. I still prefer the pukka thing.

Ah yes Michael, but look on the bright side.... it could have been all of the above and us still not have had even a contrived battle for the lead. I was, for better or for worse at least mildly entertained..

Maybe the 'genuine' word was a bit wide of the mark, I admit. :suspicious: :haha:
Yes, FWIW I also prefer the real thing and just feel lucky to have been around when it was proper, and the cars sounded great be they V8's Flat / V12s etc.... the very things that sucked me into the ancestor of todays F1.

My Mother only last night on the phone after the race, was reminding me of the days when the great unwashed were able to mingle and heaven forbid even talk with our heroes in the paddock, and even see the cars up close racing.

Puts on best Yorkshire accent... "Aye we were lucky". :haha:
