On another forum the hot rumour is that Alonso will swap places with Pérez for next year, partly in connection with a complicated deal that will see Stroll sell AM to Andretti. Only problem is, the whole discussion is based on a clickbait tweet by the same Spanish journalist who we discussed last year in connection with another clickbait tweet that was based completely in fantasia. Some people will never learn, some even later... :sarcasm:

Stroll won't sell to Aston whilst the Saudi's are spending stupid money.

Yes, there are a lot of rumours down to a journalist doing the "I know something you don't know" routine, and responding with "I can't tell you what I know"

That. People using the oldest tricks mankind knows to increase their social media ratings ('likes', 'followers'), and too many stupids falling for those tricks. It's like the world was invented yesterday. Anyone seen the movie "Idiocracy"?

I wouldn’t discount Alonso approaching Red Bull - he would be insane not to - but Aston would want its pound of flesh, regardless if Stroll Snr wants to sell. However, as one of the highest paid athletes, if he really wants to roll the dice on his career again, a $30m release fee or so could be the least of Fernando’s concerns!

Alonso and Verstappen together on the same team? I don't think so.

No. There is no need to have Alonso in that team. They want a driver who is strong enough to be #2.

I don't know why people are giving any credibility to the "rumours".

It's just people getting off on the attention by being "In the knows".

So, it is decided. (I told you so.)
Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has made it clear that there is no doubt Sergio Perez will be with the team next season.
Like it or not, there was no better option available to them at the moment, I think, but in 2025 all bets are off.

Mick is Testing the Alpine A424 Hypercar this week at Jerez.

Talks re a full time WEC gig at Alpine are "advanced"
https://www.endurance-info.com/auto/art ... aine-jerez

Well, good for Mick, I hope it works out for him. I know he wanted to race F1, but any racing is still better than no racing I reckon.

Well one way of looking at it (if it happens) is that he will get to race at Le Mans and in the WEC which is where his Father was driving (for Sauber Mercedes) after joining the Mercedes Junior programme pre when he was picked to replace the jailed Gachot at Jordan. If he was to do LM and finish better than 5th he would have done better than Michael did at Le Mans.

At least then he could tick one box off for having done better than his Dad!
Mick has been confirmed as part of the Alpine (Sportscar) driver lineup for next year.

The 2024 Formula 1 World Championship grid is now finalised, as Williams today confirmed that Logan Sargeant will remain with the team for another year.

Yes, and thus no rookies on the grid this year. I must admit mid season he was trying too hard and damaging cars too much I think.... and with Albon able to get points regularly and show his class it was looking like Logan was out.

However he has turned things around and whilst he is never going to be a champion I can understand why Williams have gone with him. After all he is an American driver in an American owned team, and I can see the risk of starting from scratch with another total rookie was more risky than continuing with Logan who improved dramatically by year end without doubt. He even has a legit F1 point and was unlucky in the end to not have more.

With silly season now over in terms of the drivers, the biggest downside of all the moves is that Liam Lawson is on the sidelines. I would have put him in the Alpha Tauri ( Racing Rull as it will be) and put Danny Ric back to the simulator and development role,

I really don't understand it.

Has he got some amazing social media following or something?

Because he was out of money. He was going to try Indycar.

He wasn't great in F2 and F3 (fine, but nothing standout).

And he's been pretty forgettable in F1 (not a complete tool like Mazepin, but still slow and shunter).

I thought he only got the gig because he's American and they have new American owners. Is that the only reason why he's staying?
